Kids Lessons
Each of our 3 programs are structured into skill groups that ensure a balanced, comprehensive, instructional approach to your child’s aquatic education. The teaching criteria of the program is developed to complement each individual child’s learning and development.
WONDER CLASSES (6 to 36 month olds)
A water familiarisation program for parents and their children. It is taught with both parent/carer and child in the water.
This first stage builds on a child’s natural curiosity and fascination with water. It uses songs, games and activities to teach children a variety of skills including:
- Breathing
- Kicking and arm movements
- Water safety and parent education
- Keeping balance
- Underwater skills
- Floating
Wonder has 3 awards arranged by age group. Within each age group are two stages of progression, keeping the program challenging and rewarding.
COURAGE (3 to 5 year olds)
COURAGE has 5 awards for children to achieve. The program builds water confidence and develops skills in swimming, survival and water safety across the following milestones:
- Entries and exits
- Breathing and underwater skills
- Floating and sculling
- Survival skills
- Movement and swimming strokes
- Water safety education
ACTIVE (5 – 14 year olds)
ACTIVE is used to emphasise the importance of swimming skills in saving lives and provides a strong foundation for students participating in a range of aquatic recreation and fitness activities.
ACTIVE is a swimming and water safety program that develops skills across the following:
- Entries and exits
- Underwater skills
- Rescue skills
- Floating and sculling
- Survival skills
- Water Safety knowledge
- Movement and swimming strokes
ACTIVE has 3 Development Awards (which focus on foundational skills) and 7 Core Awards (building on endurance) to progress through.
